Master Chunko was sitting at a table with a man sitting across from him. Chunko was leaned back in his chair, flipping a gold coin through his fingers as he listened to the other speak. His gaze never left the coin. The man was leaned forward and had a drink in one hand. He wore the armor of a Crimson Moon guard. The two exchanged laughter and good times. "Ahh, it has been some time, young Master," said the man.
"You asked me here for talks of business. As much as I enjoy your company, time is something I hold dear. Speak," commanded Chunko as he looked at the man for the first time. The man across from him leaned back in his chair just as the young Master was and let out a deep sigh. "I mean not to trouble you, but there have been reports. My men have heard talk through their routes.." the man said, his tone growing softer and darker. Interested, Master Chunko stopped flipping his coin and gave an interested squint of his eyes. "What kind of reports?"
"They speak of a man with pale skin. He's been staying in town, and sleeps through the day and walks only at nightfall. No killings have turned up yet, but I don't want to chance it. It seemed like your area of expertise," explained the man.
Chunko sat and thought about this, his mind whirling at the description. A Vampire. What is an undead scourge doing in this town? We wiped the undead from Crimson Moon, I know it. Why would one venture here? Damned blood-thirster. Chunko returned from his thoughts and smirked at the man.
"Gather your men. Spread the word. Recruit any and all willing to fight in the name of the White Light," demanded Chunko, "The hunt begins."
The guard got up from his seat and made his way to the door, nodding to Chunko before leaving. Chunko returned the nod and sat alone for a while, thinking and planning. He continued to flip his coin for a moment and abruptly stopped. He jumped from his seat and headed for the door with haste.
A quarter of the day passed and Chunko returned to the tavern holding a small stack of paper. Chunko stood on a table near the center of the room, holding the stack high in the air, and his book in the other, close to his chest. "Attention! Ladies and gentlemen! Lend me your ears and listen to my request!" the young Master demanded loudly.
"There is a scourge upon us! He walks without heat in the flesh and without life in his veins. He walks only in the shroud of night and hides from the White Light. He fears justice, he cowards from judgment! Mothers and fathers, protect your children. Brothers and sisters, protect your family. Wipe this walking shame from the Duchy! Find him, bring him to me! I shall pass the Divines' judgment, I shall be their justice! It is a hunt for the Vampire! Bring his pale flesh to me, and I will burn it from his bones!"
Chunko ranted and raved to the people in the tavern. When he was finished, he put the stack on the table, and calmly walked out of the building. The people attacked the stack of papers like vultures, each taking one and reading the sheet. One not-so-drunk commoner read his aloud..
"Join the hunt. Burn the scourge. See to Lord Master Chunko Char for details. Reward possible. For our safety, for our families, and for the White Light." Chunko had a devious smirk on his face as he heard the note being read. He spread these papers amongst the Duchy. He sent off messengers with stacks to deliver to every door and every person. Soon, everyone will know of the blood-thirster.
And so the hunt begins..
